Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) provides financial help to people who are unable to work because of a health condition or disability. It also provides personalised support to those who are able to work.
From October 2010, a reassessment process for existing incapacity benefits claimants to ESA began. This process will be completed by Spring 2014.
Changes were introduced in October 2011, to the way people were managed and supported during the course of their ESA claim.
The Department for Work and Pensions have produced an ESA Information pack to help claimants to understand what will happen from their initial contact through to the end of their claim.
